1.    Pitch and Markings

 

 

1.1.      The pitch must be flat, correctly prepared, marked (in accordance with the laws of cricket)  and consistent in performance over the whole pitch. No holes or uneven areas should be left on the pitch or any adjacent pitches.

1.2.      Wide guidance lines will be marked either side of the wickets at a distance of 17" inside each return crease. Preferably these should be blue. Coloured tape may be applied for artificial surfaces

1.3.   Marks will be made 5ft in front of each popping crease on the edge of the pitch and 1ft either side of the middle stump to mark the protected pitch area

1.4.      No watering shall be carried out after the Thursday before the match and the final cut of the pitch must be within the 24 hours prior to the start of the match.

2.    Outfield

 

 

2.1.      The outfield must be level and free from ruts, bare areas, debris, litter or any foreign matter and must be cut to an appropriate length with the final cut no earlier than the Thursday prior to the match.

2.2.      Any damage resulting from the playing of winter sports must be made good prior to the start of the season.

2.3.      Markers will be placed in a semi circle at a distance of 30 yards from each middle stump, and parallel to the pitch to join the semi circles.

3.    Sightscreens

 

3.1.      Sightscreens or other plain light coloured background, must be provided at both ends of the ground sufficient to accommodate any pitch, and positioned outside the boundary. Sightscreens must be a minimum of 4yds by 4yds. If canvas or other material screens are used the material must be appropriately secured.

4.    Boundary

 

4.1.      The Boundary must be clearly marked with a white line, rope or fence. Markers must be placed at 20 yard intervals.

4.2.  Boundaries should be a minimum distance of 50 yards from the pitch.

5.    Covers

 

5.1.      Covers capable of covering the full length and width of the pitch must be provided. These must be available at all times during the match and should be available for immediate use when required.

6.    Drying

 

6.1.      Sawdust, towels and/or other drying aids must be available

7.    Pavilion

 

7.1.      Accommodation must be provided adjacent to the playing area and must include, clean and secure changing facilities for each team. Changing facilities must include adequate showers, washing facilities with hot and cold water

7.2.      Indoor catering and seating facilities must be available and every effort must be made to provide adequate outdoor seating for players and spectators.

7.3.      Separate men and women’s toilets available to players, officials and spectators.

8.    Scoring

 

8.1.      A fully operational scoreboard must be visible from the whole playing area, displaying total runs scored, wickets fallen, overs bowled and runs scored in previous innings.

8.2.      An undercover area with full visibility of the pitch must be available for scorers.

12. Youth cricket

 

12.1.  All clubs are required to run a Youth program open to boys and girls. The program must provide coaching, practice and playing opportunities for hard ball cricket over the age of eleven, or soft ball cricket for those younger.

12.3.  All clubs must be in full compliance with the ECB ‘Safe Hands – Welfare of Young Persons in Cricket’ policy, and have this included in their constitution. This includes the appointment of a Child Welfare Officer

13. Car Parking

 

13.1.  Adequate car parking must be available for players and officials

Compliance with the foregoing requirements will be monitored through the submission of regular reports by umpires where appointed, by away team captains or nominated fairplay representatives.

 

An inspection may be completed by the Facilities Committee or their nominees at any time.

 

Failure to comply may result in a disciplinary hearing and could result in points loss and/or relegation.

 

 

 

Clubs will be given 1 year to comply. On request a further 1 years grace may be granted, if the club can demonstrate that it is actively working towards resolution. ALL mandatory criteria must be met by the end of the 2017 season. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Clubs who otherwise qualify for promotion may not be promoted if they do not have the required facilities and arrangements in place.

 

Clubs who do fail to meet the criteria of the division they are currently in, may be demoted by one division each season until facilities are amended, or requirements have reduced
